A Shasta County jury found 37-year-old Chance Lee Locken, of Redding, guilty for the murder of 77-year-old William Humphries inside his home in 2018.

The Shasta County District Attorney's Office said the jury also found Locken guilty of residential burglary, grand theft of a firearm, animal cruelty, and firearm-related enhancements, in addition to other charges.

The incident was on February 3, 2018, when Locken broke into Humphries' home on the 10000 block of Gaucho Road and murdered him with a .22 caliber revolver he stole from a family member. Locken also shot and killed Humphries' dog. Locken then stole numerous firearms from the home and lit some grass on fire near the home's wooden deck.

Locken will be sentenced on March 15, 2022, in the Shasta County Superior Court where he faces 60 years to life in prison.
