George Adamou to compete in eMLS League Series 2 tonight

The second competition of the 2022 eMLS season kicks off with League Series 2 on Tuesday, January 25 and Houston Dynamo FC’s George Adamou will be looking to qualify for eMLS Cup.

Adamou currently sits in sixth place after the first round of qualifying, thanks in large part to going undefeated in the second day of League Series 1. In that competition, Adamou went 9-2-3 with a goal differential of +12. He also had the most-watched stream of any League Series 1 participant. If Adamou remains in the top eight overall through two days of play in League Series 2, he will earn automatic entry to eMLS Cup.

Adamou will play 12 matches in total, beginning with a first-round matchup tonight at 5 p.m. CST against Minnesota United’s “Lamps,” who currently sits in second place. Just as in League Series 1, if Adamou finishes in the top eight over two days of group stage play, he will qualify for this weekend’s knockout stage, which gives him an opportunity to earn his share of a $20,000 prize pool.

While qualifying for the League Series 2 knockout stage will only take these next two days of matches into account, the standings for qualifying into the eMLS Cup, which is scheduled to take place on March 13 at ACL Live in Austin, will be based on cumulative points from both League Series 1 and 2.

And although every match is equally important towards qualifying, Adamou has two matches tonight that come with added importance. In his second match of the evening, Adamou will take on former Houston Dynamo champion Kid M3mito, who now represents the Chicago Fire and is close friends with Adamou. Later on, Adamou will take part in his first edition of the Texas Derby tonight at 7:00 p.m. when he takes on FC Dallas eMLS player AlanAvi.
