While the MLB lockout finally ends and teams are able to conduct roster moves freely again, teams will be fighting for the signature of Japanese third baseman Seiya Suzuki, who intends to join MLB in 2022. According to the latest update on Suzuki's move to America, Yahoo Sports Japan reports that the Boston Red Sox have emerged at the forefront of his market. The report indicates that Suzuki intends to sign with the Red Sox when the lockout ends.

Suzuki is one of the most coveted players to come out of Japan in recent memory. There were many teams said to be interested in acquiring the star slugger, but these reports suggest he's most keen on joining the Red Sox when a deal becomes possible.

The 27-year-old enjoyed a dominant season in the Japanese Central League last year, launching 38 home runs and driving in 88 RBI for the Hiroshima Carp. He slashed .317/.433/.636 across 132 games. Suzuki is a four-time All-Star in the NPB and made the NPB's Best-Nine team five times throughout his career. Additionally, Suzuki is a defensive whiz, having earned three Gold Gloves during his career in Japan.

After dominating over the past half-decade in the NPB, Suzuki is finally ready to make the switch to Major League Baseball, and with that decision has come a ton of interest from power-needy teams. Despite the interest from various clubs across the sport, these latest rumors and reports indicate that Suzuki could well yearn to join the Red Sox when the lockout enables him to do so, though nothing is set in stone as of yet.
