See This Fall River Intersection in the 1920s Thanks to a Cool Photo

In a time where every day feels the same, it’s refreshing to come across photographs that remind us of how nothing is truly ever the same. Fall River has seen its fair share of change, but you won’t believe how different Globe Street corner looks after just 100 years.

When driving down Globe Street, you’ll find yourself at a four-way intersection where the Citgo gas station conveniently sits. Citgo has been filling up SouthCoast cars for over 10 years, but in the 1920s, that prime corner belonged to James Sunderland and Son Co. Furniture.

A gentleman shared this throwback photo to a local Facebook group, showing the furniture store in its heyday, compared to the gas station that stands there in the present day. According to the gentleman, the picture is from the 1920s.

Fast forward 100 years, where gas pumps have taken place of the three-story building with its angled front. It appears the building home to Asia One restaurant has stood the test of time, as you can see in both photographs. I’m sure it has had some renovations over the years.

It’s incredible to think this plot of land has stood on the same ground for over 100 years, while the landscape around it continues to evolve.

It makes me wonder, what did Downtown Fall River look like a century ago?
