Galaxy S22 Wallpaper on Pixel 6 Pro

Pixel 6 and 6 Pro likely to receive February update on the same day as other Pixel phones

Google has a lot riding on the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, as the devices aim to provide something completely different from what Google has attempted to do in the past. From the upgraded camera hardware to the unique design and everything in between, this is the first true “Google” phone, and we’re all excited for it.

However, the last few months have been a bit rocky, as Google continues to struggle when it comes to software updates. The company was forced to push back the release of the December Android Security update for the Pixel 6 series, for various reasons and didn’t release the update until earlier this month. And even those who received the December update saw the removal of incredibly useful features such as Call Screening and Hold for Me, which was a bit odd.

Normally this wouldn’t be much of a problem, but considering the sheer number of bugs that needed to be fixed, seeing the software delayed was not a good sign. However, it seems that Google might be getting things back on track with the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro when it comes time for the February Android Security Bulletin.

According to an “OS Upgrade Schedule” posted on the Canadian carrier Fido’s website (via 9to5Google), the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are slated to receive their next update on February 7. The schedule also shows that the Pixel 3a to the Pixel 5 will also receive the update on the same day, which means that Google is getting back on track with its software releases for all of its supported devices.

One could surmise that the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro have been more difficult to develop for because of Google’s new Tensor chip, or it could have just been a string of bad luck. No matter what way you look at it, we’re hoping that Google can get back on track and hopefully it starts with the February Android Security Patch.
