Respawn Is Working on Star Wars FPS, Strategy Game, & Fallen Order 2

Respawn Entertainment has an entire slate of Star Wars video games on the way for EA, including a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, a first-person shooter (FPS), and a strategy game. EA has outlined the future of Star Wars content at the developer of Apex Legends and Titanfall, explaining that Respawn founder Vince Zampella is overseeing “this new phase of EA’s relationship with Lucasfilm.”

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order lead Stig Asmussen is working on the sequel, and other teams are working on the other two projects. Peter Hirschmann has been tapped to serve as game director for the Star Wars FPS, and the recently formed studio Bit Reactor, led by industry veteran Greg Foerstch, will develop the strategy game in collaboration with Respawn.

Lucasfilm Games vice president Douglas Reilly explained in a statement that the work Respawn Entertainment provided for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was more than enough justification to continue their relationship. Zampella is excited for Respawn’s future, too, saying, “Fostered by the expertise and passion within each team, we will create thrilling original games for diverse audiences across the Star Wars galaxy.”

Meanwhile, Hirschmann previously served as executive producer on the original Star Wars Battlefront games, and he offered a short comment on his FPS: “Working with Lucasfilm Games on a new FPS in the Star Wars galaxy is a dream come true for me, as this is a story I have always wanted to tell.”

While FPS and strategy Star Wars titles might come as a surprise for fans, we had a strong idea that a sequel to Fallen Order was on the way. Earlier this month, a report emerged stating that the sequel was on track for a reveal this year. That same report explained that Respawn is hoping to release the project sometime this year, but that has not been confirmed.

Earlier this month, another report indicated that Respawn is working on a stylish FPS that focuses on mobility, but per GamesBeat journalist Jeff Grubb, that is apparently separate from the Star Wars games. There are evidently no plans for a Star Wars Battlefront III at Respawn either. EA is eager for applicants to work on this diverse slate of Respawn games though.
