There are a lot of intriguing facts about Justin Thomas’ landmark victory in the PGA Championship at Southern Hills. No one has come from seven strokes back of the lead to win a major on Sunday since Paul Lawrie at the 1999 Open Championship. Plus, as the champion joked on Sunday, he was probably the first player to hit a dead shank during the final round of a major and go on to win.

Cast your mind back to March at The Players Championship and you might remember the story about how a PGA Tour caddie was hired, then immediately fired. Brent Henley revealed that he did not in fact get to carry the un-named player's bag for a single hole before he was given his marching orders.

Tiger Woods decided to withdraw from the PGA Tour which provoked a number of reactions. Former PGA champion Rich Beem commented on Woods' decision in an interview with skysports. "I've played enough golf with Tiger in the generations, and this is just partial Tiger Woods right now, this isn't the complete Tiger Woods," he told Sky Sports.

New PGA champion Justin Thomas, along with his pal Tiger Woods, are now the answers to a trivia question. The last two winners at Southern Hills majors? Woods and Thomas. “I think now I only have like 150 other things to do that he’s done to where he can stop giving me grief,” Thomas joked on Sunday night. “So I guess it’s just a steppingstone.”
