This Is Us star Milo Ventimiglia will be heading into the world of sports following his final season as Jack Pearson, as he has been confirmed to be working on a new TV show for NBC.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that Ventimiglia and his DiVide Pictures production company are working on new sports drama series Hometown Saints for the network, with 20th Television producing.
Hometown Saints will focus on a retired hockey player named Billy Riedell, who struggles to work out who he is after his professional career ends. Billy winds up back in his Minnesota hometown, where hockey is a beloved sport, and reluctantly begins coaching a girls' high school hockey team.

Ventimiglia is not thought to be in line for an acting role on the show, although he will executive produce alongside his DiVide partner Russ Cundiff.
Also executive producing and writing the script are Grainne Godfree, who has worked on the Arrowverse, and Derek Elliott, who has written for animated movie Scoob.
No casting details have yet been announced for Hometown Saints.

Ventimiglia can currently be seen in the sixth and final season of emotional family drama This Is Us, and sadly for fans, it looks like this really will be the final time that we see the extended Pearson clan, as the idea of a spin-off has already been shot down by creator Dan Fogelman.
"Once you've seen the completion of season 6, the stories of these characters are told," he said. "So there is no real spin-off because you kind of know everything. Is there another play for the show?
"I guess you'd never say never, but I don't see it. It's personal to me, and I don't see myself picking this thing back up."
This Is Us airs its final season on Tuesdays at 9/8c on NBC, and can also be streamed on Hulu. Viewers in the UK can watch every Thursday via Amazon Prime Video or Disney+.
