List of Braves 2023 free agents

For the first time in almost two months, it looks like progress is being made to end the lockout. If things continue in this direction, there’s a chance the season even starts on time. But until then, there won’t be much news in regards to free agency and trades, so I’ve decided to start a series where we take a look at the Braves’ upcoming free agents for the next few years. Guys like Freddie Freeman, Joc Pederson, Jorge Soler, and more are set to get paid right after the lockout ends, but who’s next in line for a raise after them?

Dansby Swanson

Without a doubt, Swanson is the most critical decision the Braves will have to make next offseason. I’m not sure how committed they are to him, but they have nobody who could replace him in-house.

Will Smith

Smith isn’t an unrestricted free agent, but I included him anyway because I feel there is a great chance the Braves don’t pick up his team option that will pay him $14 million. His buyout is only $1 million, and while Smith hasn’t been awful for the Braves, he hasn’t been worth $13+ million either.

Charlie Morton

Morton’s another guy with a team option. It is for $20 million, and there is no buyout; however, I feel it will likely be exercised if he pitches anything like he did for the Braves in 2021.

Adam Duvall

In my mind, nobody has been more underrated to the Braves’ success than Adam Duvall. All he does is casually hit 35+ bombs while playing Gold Glove defense, and absolutely nobody talks about him. I would love to have him back for several years past this season, but it’s unlikely the Braves will be able to re-sign him.

Luke Jackson

Jackson was elite in 2021, even if he didn’t have the best playoff run. There’s a chance the Braves will be able to retain him next offseason, depending on the price.
