When you think of some of the best teams the Western Conference has to offer, there are many teams that come to mind. One of the first that will hit you is the Vegas Golden Knights and they will be the guests to PNC Arena tonight for the Canes to play. This has the makings of one of the games of the season on paper, but it likely won’t be that way. Carolina and Vegas clash in Raleigh tonight.

Vegas played last night in Washington and took a hard-fought 1-0 win away from the capital of the nation. With the team tired on the second half of a back-to-back with travel down the east coast, they stop off in Carolina on their way and this Canes team could use a team to kick when they’re down and tired after a poor performance from the team in their last game in Jersey.

For Carolina, this is the perfect game to come back from New Jersey and send a message that the loss in the Garden State was just a blip and that the team is still a serious threat and a team that needs to be taken seriously in the playoffs come May. They would love to show up against a very good team like Vegas and just blow the doors off them early and often and run the score up.

This could be a great game if the Golden Knights can overcome signs of fatigue and tiredness to be competitive. We know that the Canes have a history of being unable to put the puck in the net when they play goaltenders that aren’t recognized. If the Canes are tasked with scoring on a “back-up” tonight, they could find trouble. However, they need the result for the standings so nothing but two points is good enough.
