“So goes Grissom, so goes Sara.” Expressing that sentiment and more, CSI vet Jorja Fox has announced that she will not be back for Season 2 of CBS‘ CSI: Vegas.
“For me, CSI has always been a love story. The story that people can find love in the darkest of places and times,” Fox explained in a Twitter thread (below). “I personally just can’t split Sara and Grissom up again. So goes Grissom…..So goes Sara. Wherever they go, they belong together.”
At the time that CSI: Vegas was renewed for Season 2, the word was that Fox could ostensibly return in some capacity, whereas co-star William Petersen had only signed on for the initial 10-episode series (but is staying on as an executive producer).
“There’s no expectation on [Fox and Petersen]” to return for Season 2, showrunner jason Tracey told TVLine at the time of the Season 1 finale. “The door will always be open to a couple of legends, but we only asked them to come back to help us tell this finite number of episodes.”
Hey all you #CSI fans! After much deliberating, I have decided not to ‘Sidle up’ for CSI Vegas. For me CSI has always been a love story. The story that people can find love in the darkest of places and times. (1)

CSI: Vegas stars Paula Newsome, Matt Lauria, Mandeep Dhillon and Mel Rodriguez as the team now working the Las Vegas crime lab. But even without Sara and Gil sticking around, other blasts from CSI series of the past could resurface.
With the casts of four past CSI shows to draw from, Tracey said, “I’d be like a kid in a candy store if I got a Season 2, to kind of ‘go shopping’ and hopefully tap in some familiar faces.”

CSI: Vegas simply didn’t work as a “remake” of the original. It should be canceled and CBS needs to move on from this series.
Or you could just not watch it any further and let those of us who enjoy it continue to do so. Bye!
Right! LOL
TY👏👏. People are so thirsty to get rid of shows they’re not watching, it makes zero sense.😂
I don’t like this thing, so nobody else should be allowed to enjoy it!
Ha! Too funny. I definitely enjoyed the new people on this show. Looking forward to watching more episodes (bring the BLASTS FROM THE PAST … would be so much fun).
I agree. I personally Love the show. For a show that was created after a wildly popular series ended, I feel it did a great job. There’s several former actors from the original, that I’m sure would love to come back, even if it’s one showing.
Loved it!
I’m sick and tired of actors signing up to do a reboot show then quit!! Go, go now! You get us the fans to cheer, watch and revel in ur return, then drop a bomb shell on us. I am angry I’m sick of u!! Now I’m gonna to stop watching cause I don’t want my heart to break watching u guys leave at the end of series. Just go and be happy somewhere else.
it was always known Petersen had only signed on for 10 episodes. if you didn’t know that, that’s on you.
Good grief! They never said they would be on full time. Where were you when the rest of us know they were just there to relaunch the series? I am thankful they were on it because the rest of the cast aren’t worthy of being there honestly. Too many variables that just don’t work. Love the show but not the reboot cast.
The odds that she quit are small…
“C.S.I.: Vegas” isn’t a reboot. It doesn’t disregard any continuity established by “C.S.I.: Crime Scene Investigation” (2000-2015). It’s more akin to what “Star Trek: The Next Generation” was to “Star Trek”, with a six-year gap instead of a seventy-year gap.
I was devoted to the original CSI:Crime Scene Investigation and followed on with CSI:Miami. I was lagging by CSI:New York and finally gave them all up — without even trying the newer ones — because it seemed DNA was the answer to everything. I was getting bored. Then came CSI:Vegas — and with it came Grissom and Sara, my fave characters from the past. I was on the horse again!
But now, with the news that this favorite couple will not be back, I’m jumping off the CSI horse for good. The rest of the cast of the new CSI:Vegas are all likeable, and I wish the show success. Ultimately, though, my TV watching time is just too limited to invest in another CSI show that holds nothing particularly new or special for me. Grissom and Sara were special, a couple everyone rooted for during the original show and who everyone was happy to know did finally get together. After all these years, I can still picture that final scene from the end of the original CSI when Grissom followed Sara to the back of beyond because he could not bear to be without her.
I tuned in to CSI:Vegas specifically because Grissom and Sara were back. Too bad they aren’t staying on, but I do respect and approve of Jorja Fox’s decision to keep Grissom and Sara together, if only in our memories. If these characters can’t be together on screen, then they need to be together wherever they are, just as Ms. Fox said.
You could just say bye look at that one word bye not a dissertation
It was what i was thinking at the time. I didn’t realize there was a word limit. Sorry if it took up too much room on your screen. If a comment is too long for you to handle, you can always skip it.
Like I said one word bye
I can see you’re a deep thinker.
Who peed in your CoCo puffs?
CSI: Miami is so corny that it almost makes me throw up! It’s the only series of the whole franchise that I simply cannot watch.
Sad to hear Jorja Fox won’t be returning to CSI Vegas. Without Sara and Grissom , I won’t be watching. The show just won’t be the same without them.
Watch the reruns
I could not ask for better news.
I couldn’t agree more.
@webb – It’s 2022! Move on, dude!
I enjoyed the new cast and I can live without the old cast members.. I would enjoy guest shots from the old CSI’s….
Agree. I like the concept of the show. It’s the same with all procedurals – actors come and go. I stay for the content. Although if Mariska ever leaves SVU, I’ll probably bail on that one. She’s an institution at this point.
there would be no svu without her.
I do noy understand the love of Mariska she is a wooden and stilted
actress with the inability to adequately express emotion
Do you want her bursting into tears or laughing at a crime scene? That would be odd too.
Peeve, You obviously have no clue about Mariska. Besides the cop thing, she does this stuff in real life. She works with victims of sex crimes.
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/25/arts/television/mariska-hargitay-law-and-order-svu.html
I actually don’t disagree with you completely because I think she does have some limitations as an actress or isn’t asked to call upon certain emotions enough to portray them convincingly when she is asked to do so. However, I still enjoy her quite a bit. What she lacks in versatility, she makes up for with her natural charisma and likeability. There are many, many far worse lead actors and actresses on TV right now.
I used to absolutely love this show years back. Jorja Fox is the reason I quit watching it.
Your loss.
Move on.
I probably won’t return. I found the series mostly boring. Grissom and Sidle were the one bright spot.
Maxine is a good one to build a team around; however, Allie’s thick accent is such a distraction. I really expected a more refined delivery style from Dhillon because of her stage and radio works background. Oh well, I won’t follow S2 on a weekly basis without Grisssom and Sara. Perhaps CSI should bring Greg, Super Dave and Henry back since neither Josh nor Allie can hold my interest and attention.
I agree! Sorry to say it but Allie & Josh should be minor players, not the major characters. I love Grissom, Catherine, Warwick & Doc. Robbins. I think Maxine is the best thing on the new show, but needs a better team. I would love Grissom, Catherine & Brass to return, but I never cared for Sara.
I have always liked Sarah and Grissom on the original CSI but to be honest with you this new CSI is not for me there is nothing like the original. I could never understand what they were doing?
I enjoyed seeing Grissom & Sara on CSI: Vegas, but I liked the new core cast and look forward to watching them develop and gel together in Season 2. I also like the idea that alums from other CSI shows could potentially appear. Like, now that NCIS: New Orleans is kaput, maybe Vanessa Ferlito’s character from CSI: NY is a possibility.
Sorry, but her character was killed off.
As said, Ferlito was killed off and an episode was devoted to finding her killer.
it disappointing they won’t be back, but i get it. and i liked the new cast. I’ll still watch.
The show’s new characters are strong enough and we don’t need any old, original characters – the franchise will continue and viewers will still turn in.
I never thought of it as a love story. I thought they were just solving crimes. Just because they was married doesn’t mean it’s a love story. Silly reason.
She was talking about GSR, I believe.
Guess I won’t return to watch then either
tbh I’m alright with it. Would be nice to finally get some closure for the past Miami/NY characters or even some of the other OG Vegas crew.
As sad as I am that Sara & Grissom won’t be back, I’m a big fan of the couple, so I applaud her decision. I’m thrilled that the reboot is coming back because I really enjoyed the new team and am looking forward to hopefully seeing other returning favorites!
Removing all the main characters that I love from the original series, is a negative, the new nshow is a bore, and I’ve stop watching it.
Nobody cares
They did not really get a chance to flesh out the other characters besides to give the the new lead, a son. The others had some quirks, but nothing to really establish because the attention was on the old guard because of the main storyline. And only 10 episodes. So, maybe we will see if there is anything to a new version of the show. I liked the characters. So, I am curious to know how it will go. I am sure some old characters. If Marg does not return to All Rise, I guess she could return as the resident “old” character.
I hope they get a decent time slot with something other than reality shows as lead in.
I am not at all unhappy about her not renewing for Season 2. Frankly, I could never see them as a couple – she’s such a blah character. What I would have like to see was Grissom and Lady Heather – now that would have been something to watch. I haven’t watched the new series because I really can’t stand to listen to Sara – she has one of the most irritating manners of speech. Now, I’ll check out the new crew and see if it’s worth watching.
@Spunky Senior: I for one will always be grateful that CSI gave me this unconventional and unique GSR pairing. As a CSI/GSR fan, Jorja’s Sara is a favorite of mine. She is the most authentic one among the whole lot.
I loved Grissom and Sara. This past season it was such a treat to see them totally together. I’m actually glad she is not returning. They belong together. Devoting 20 years to a fictional couple that FINALLY had a happy ending in a happy life is something to be thankful for, and worth savoring. Forever grateful to JF and WP.
I’ll be tuning in to CSI:Vegas. I liked the new characters and look forward to watching them develop.
Loved the new show, loved how they fleshed out Grissom and Sara as a couple. They have wandered off into history as a happily married couple, which is as it should be. Looking forward to seeing if the new version can continue to be worth watching. Hoping they will let us know how some of our characters from the other shows have fared since there wasn’t really a closing for them. I am a big fan of all 3 of the spin offs. I’ve heard they aren’t as good as the original but they’re not supposed to be; they are separate shows.
No Grissom, no CSI. I couldn’t stand the show undergoing the cast changes before and I won’t watch now.
Bye
Awful without original cast.
Will at least Hodges be coming back? I’d sort of like to see Mac Taylor relocate from The Big Apple to Sin City.
Catherine has so many roots in Vegas that she is the one I’d like to see return… after Grissom.
Alas! Time is not on Catherine’s side.
I personally don’t care. I’m not a Jorja Fox fan, and really only wanted Peterson. But I knew with his reputation in the past of not being interested in returning to a full-time series, I wasn’t expecting him to stay on. I still am in shock that Grissom and Sli-fox ended up as a couple in the first place, never cared for their pairing, at all.
I like the new cast anyway, and I think they can make a real go of the series, who needs Fox?
I kind of wish if both weren’t coming back they hadn’t done a season 2 and instead maybe gone back to one of the other csi’s to do a one off season of that instead and the. Maybe in a few years when you can get them both to commit and you have a good story do another vegas one shot season. Basically go the route with the whole csi universe like used to happen with TV a shows where they would end but would keep coming back for TV movies with the modern version of a TV movie being a limited series
I do.
I really enjoyed the new cast and look forward to season 2. I thought they bridged the original series together with the new cast really well, but it wasn’t something that needed to be sustained. Grissom and Sara did what they came to do and now they sail on again.
