According to a report JuJu Smith-Schuster is once again interested in joining the Kansas City Chiefs.
Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network, says, “Now that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has retired, Smith-Schuster is interested in potentially joining the Chiefs again. It’s no secret in NFL circles with multiple league sources saying Smith-Schuster hopes to join the Chiefs as a free agent and has expressed that desire.”
Smith-Schuster reportedly had offers from both Baltimore and Kansas City before coming back to Pittsburgh on a one-year deal before last season.
Reports then said that the Ravens offered him $9 million with $4 million worth of incentives and the Chiefs offered $8 million with $3 million of incentives.
Smith-Schuster signed with the Steelers for $8 million.
But just because he’s interested in Kansas City, doesn’t mean he’ll be leaving.
ESPN Steelers reporter Brooke Pryor believes that Smith-Schuster will be back again in 2022.
“Once Smith-Schuster went down in Week 5 with a significant shoulder injury, it was obvious how much the Steelers missed his physicality and energy,” Pryor. “Smith-Schuster will undoubtedly keep an eye on the quarterback situation, but don't be surprised if he's back in a Steelers uniform next season.”
The Steelers have a lot more cap room this offseason compared to last year.
