Austin Chubb will return to manage the Great Lakes Loons in 2022, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced Tuesday.

Chubb, who made an appearance as Dow Diamond as a player in 2015, managed the Loons to a 63-57 record in 2021 in Great Lakes’ first season as a High Class A minor-league affiliate of the Dodgers.

“I’m thrilled to be coming back to Great Lakes to work even closer with the front office and engage with the community more than I had an opportunity to last season,” Chubb stated in a press release.. “We had a chance at the postseason last year and came up a bit short, so we all have a chip on our shoulder to go even further and win a championship in Great Lakes.”

Chubb is entering his sixth season as a coach in the Dodges organization, with stops in the Dominican Republic and Pioneer League before landing with the Loons.

The 32-year-old former catcher played for Great Lakes, Oklahoma City and Rancho Cucamonga in the Dodgers minor-league system.

The Loons begin the 2022 season against the West Michigan Whitecaps on Friday, April 8 at Dow Diamond.
