SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame volleyball program had five members named to the ACC All-Academic team as announced by the league office Tuesday morning. Aubrey Hamilton, Lindsay Miller, Hattie Monson, Charley Niego and Zoe Nunez picked up the honors for their performances on the court and in the classroom this season.
Hamilton, a sophomore outside hitter, played in all 103 sets for the Irish this season. The psychology major averaged 3.07 kills per set and her total of 316 kills led the squad. She led the team with 354 points, and pitched in on the defensive end with 48 blocks and 85 digs.
Miller, an environmental sciences major, was another mainstay on the court this season, playing in every set. Her .305 hitting percentage was the team’s best amongst attackers with at least 175 attempts. The middle blocker led the team with 105 total blocks.
Monson was a stalwart on the backline, leading the Irish defense with 407 digs, averaging 3.95 per set. The biological sciences major played in all 103 sets and was second on the team with 89 assists.
A second team All-ACC outside hitter, Niego played in 90 sets during the 2021 campaign. The senior tallied 272 kills, averaging 3.02 per set. The management consulting major added 264 digs, for a per set average of 2.93 and contributed 41 total blocks. Niego also added 27 service aces, tied for eighth-most in the ACC.
Senior setter Nunez earned the honor after leading the Irish with 912 assists this season, averaging 8.94 per set, eighth-best in the league. She added 46 kills and hit at a .271 clip. She contributed on the defensive end with 262 total digs, averaging 2.57 per set to go with 53 blocks.
