With Anthony Davis set to return to the lineup for the Los Angeles Lakers, the season is very much on the line.

As the Los Angeles Lakers prepare to face off against the Brooklyn Nets Tuesday night, Anthony Davis is set to return to the lineup. He should – and probably will – give the Lakers a much-needed boost heading into the game.

Although, more importantly, the hope is that he can give the Lakers a boost beyond just in Tuesday night’s game against the Nets. Los Angeles needs AD to help right the ship and bring some stability to the team heading into the playoff push.

At the moment, the Lakers are 23-24 and sitting in the 8th spot of the Western Conference standings. The season is on the line and the return of AD should be something that the Lakers fans should be excited – and a bit anxious – about.

Lakers fans should be excited considering AD’s return could give this team a boost that they’ve been missing over the last few weeks. They should also be anxious because this is their season. If the return of AD doesn’t spark the Lakers, then you’d have to wonder if there’s any spark coming to salvage the season for Los Angeles.

It’s now or never for the Lakers. There’s no waiting around and not much time to spare. If the Lakers can’t get on the right track with the return of AD now, there’s probably no hope for this team – regardless of what they do at the NBA Trade Deadline.

And without much assets on their roster, it’s unlikely that the Lakers will be able to pull off any season-changing moves at the deadline – even if they are able to trade Russell Westbrook.

Unless we see a substantial additional by subtraction – though, I’m bullish on that theory – AD and LeBron are going to have to put this team on their backs and make a move up the standings.

With AD’s impending return, it’s now or never for the Lakers. The season is on the line.
