Cat-and-Mouse Chase Between Cops and Runaway Dog Goes Viral

The internet has been left in stitches after watching a video of police officers chasing a runaway dog that went viral on the social media platform TikTok.

In the clip, uploaded by user Sarah Guthrie, two police officers in Mesa, Arizona, valiantly try to grab a dog that proved to be a tricky pet to corner.

As the clip played, the small dog managed to weave and race away from the two officers while it ran down an empty street.

By the time the video ended, it was unclear whether the two officers were able to catch the dog, or not.

Newsweek has contacted the Mesa Police Department for comment.

TikTok users quickly raced to the comment section in praise of the dog's quick feet and its ability to somehow evade the law.

One TikTok user posted: "The way he [the dog] just turns around and runs in the other direction."

Another added: "Of course, he's gonna run. He's got the cops chasing him. Gotta go in slow with them treats."

A third commented all the running could be good for the police officers: "They all need this workout at least once a week."

Since being uploaded on Thursday, January 20, the TikTok clip has gone on to be viewed on some 197,000 occasions and liked more than 32,200 times.

Last week's mad chase is hardly the first time the internet has fawned over a dog's antics on TikTok.

Earlier this month of January, a TikTok video of a dog jumping along as a child sled in snow melted the hearts of viewers.

Golden Retriever Moose Macabee won praise online for a clip that was originally recorded in Madison, Wisconsin, back on December 21, 2020.

In the short 17-second clip, Moose could be seen jumping while a boy started sledding down a nearby hill,

The dog followed along by the child's side while leaping in the air after him.

Since being uploaded on TikTok last week, the clip has been seen more than 870,000 times.

Another pooch won a whole new host of admirers this month after he was filmed rolling his eyes at his owner.

In a video uploaded by user thedognamed.leo a large dog called Leo appeared to turn his eyes up to the ceiling as his owner put words to his actions.

The pet could be seen rolling his eyes, seemingly bored by his own tale as overlaying text read: "I saw mommy eating some gummy bears before bed and she wouldn't give me one effing gummy bear."

Since being uploaded onto TikTok on November 17, 2021, the clip has attracted more than 1.2 million likes and 32,500 shares.
