Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - This is the first installment of "Sabres Week In Review", which is intended to provide a brief recap of the previous week, along with a look at the week ahead.
The Sabres were 2-1-1 in four games throughout the last week. Buffalo played well in all four games, but struggled to finish out in two of those contests against the Detroit Red Wings and Dallas Stars. The Sabres surrendered multiple leads throughout the two games.
However, the Sabres' youth was their bright spot throughout the week, where the team had 11 goals scored by players that are 25-years-old or younger.
Game of the week:
The Sabres performed extremely well in a 6-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday afternoon at KeyBank Center.
Buffalo came out hot in this game against a struggling Flyers team, where Jeff Skinner, Tage Thompson, and Peyton Krebs each scored two goals. Krebs’ two goals were his first two in the NHL.
Michael Houser improved to 2-0 on the season with the Sabres, with a goals-against-average of 2.00 and a save percentage of .948.

Player of the week:
Alex Tuch recently returned from the NHL's COVID-19 Protocol list, scoring two goals and four assists for six points this week.
Since being acquired from the Vegas Golden Knights, Tuch has been a standout for the Sabres, scoring 10 points in nine games.
He looks to be quite the piece for the Sabres moving forward, as the 25-year-old winger is signed through the 2025-26 season at a cap hit of $4.75 million.
Prospect of the week:
Sabres prospect Devon Levi has been, hands down, one of the best goaltenders in the NCAA this year. Levi, a sophomore at Northeastern University, has posted a remarkable record of 16-7-1 with a 1.55 goals-against average, a .948 save percentage, and nine shutouts. With three more shutouts, Levi could tie the NCAA all-time single-season shutout record of 12, currently held by Greg Gardner.
Along with a stellar college season, Levi was recently selected to represent Team Canada in the upcoming 2022 Winter Games in Beijing, China. It’s unclear if Levi will be the starting netminder for Team Canada, but he will certainly get his shot for his country.

A look ahead:
This upcoming week sees Buffalo heading to Ottawa, once again, on Tuesday night to take on the Senators. Then the team embarks on a western road trip, starting in the desert on Saturday to take on the Arizona Coyotes, followed by a Sunday matchup with the Colorado Avalanche.
