The Moment Anthony Martial Clearly Knew He Was Leaving Manchester United

The Moment Anthony Martial Clearly Knew He Was Leaving Manchester United

Martial's move to Sevilla was preceded by the forward clearly being unhappy with life at Manchester United, as he walked off the pitch.

Anthony Martial is set to leave Manchester United in the immediate future and it appears he was pretty much set on leaving on Saturday, following their win over West Ham.

Martial's future has been the subject of much discussion throughout the past month or so, with interim boss Ralf Rangnick admitting the player had told him he wanted to leave.

Things at Old Trafford looked over for the France forward when the interim boss then revealed the player wasn't on the bench for the game against Aston Villa because he'd been asked to be left out.

He returned against West Ham on Saturday and had an involvement in Marcus Rashford's winner, which some Hammers fans tried to prove was offside.

Martial was actually booed coming onto the pitch and he clearly wasn't happy when the match was over, refusing to clap the fans, instead looking angry and shaking his head at any encouragement, as video from a fan showed.

The former Monaco forward has only played 210 minutes in the league so far this season, with two starts coming against Southampton and Everton, when he didn't last the full 90 minutes.

His inclusion on Saturday was a bit of a surprise, after the issues against Villa, but he came on for Mason Greenwood in the 82nd minute, with United desperate for a winner.

Cristiano Ronaldo's run took defenders away from Martial and Cavani, with the Portugal forward laying off to the substitute, who then took the ball on.

The 26-year-old then found Cavani, who squared the ball to Rashford, with the England striker bringing up his second goal in a week and sending Old Trafford into euphoria.

That ball to Cavani is the last thing that the forward will do in a United shirt as he now moves to Sevilla for the next six months, with Julen Lopetegui's side reportedly paying half of his wages.

They currently sit second in La Liga, attempting to chase down Real Madrid at the top of the table, and are 10 points clear of fourth place so will expect to keep hold of a Champions League place.

If the forward can impress whilst in Spain then he could return to Old Trafford in the summer and have an impact again, because Lopetegui is apparently in line to replace Rangnick.

The former Real Madrid boss is on a shortlist with Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag and Luis Enrique.
