Abortion rights: A state Senate committee will consider bills today that would add a constitutional amendment limiting elective abortions in Pa. and restrict funding.

Local growth: We looked at census data from 2010 to 2020 to find the 25 fastest growing communties in the state. Many are in central Pennsylvania.

ER waits: People are spending untold hours, sometimes a day, in emergency rooms throughout central Pa. That doesn’t mean they’re being ignored, though, hospital leaders say. State and federal “strike teams” also are helping overloaded hospitals.

Fatal fire: 67-year-old man was identified as the victim of a fire Sunday night in Royalton that destroyed his home. Volunteers fighting the fire were trapped inside, including a Middletown firefighter who is being treated in Philadelphia.

Escaped monkeys: PETA has asked for a federal investigation into the Pa. crash of a truck carrying 100 monkeys to a labratory. Three of the animals escaped and were euthanized after being captured.

Fire damage: The Copper Kettle Restaurant on Lincoln Highway East near Chambersburg was damaged in a weekend fire, but the owners say they’ll reopen.
