Spotify Hiring for Meghan and Harry's Podcast After Waiting Over a Year for Content

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's podcast will get a team of producers hired through Spotify's partner company to deliver a new weekly show.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex launched Archewell Audio with a festive special in December 2020 but have produced no new content since.

The press release at the time of the announcement declared the full podcast was "not expected to debut until 2021."

Yet 2021 has now passed and the podcast has still not appeared.

Fans of the couple need not give up, however, as a team of three producers is being put together to work on a new weekly show for Archewell Audio that will feature "high profile women."

Job adverts on Spotify's website state that the trio are being hired by Gimlet Projects, a company which describes itself as "part of the Spotify family."

The career posting reads: "Gimlet Projects (GP) is a new show development team that develops and launches new podcasts for Spotify. GP's projects often involve Spotify's high-profile collaborators.

"We're currently assembling a show team that will build and launch a new original show with Archewell featuring the voices of high profile women."

Harry and Meghan's December 2020 festive special included contributions from big names including Stacey Abrams, Elton John, Naomi Osaka, James Corden and Tyler Perry.

However the star guest was their toddler son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, who got a chance to practice his words when he wished listeners a Happy New Year.

One of the new producers will be expected to handle bookings for the show as well as: "Prep host for recordings."

The ad states: "The ideal candidate has experience working with high-profile talent, and an interest in the intersection of social activism and popular culture."

The senior producer, producer and associate producer are being hired on full time, six-month contracts based in Los Angeles but with remote working available.

The couple recorded a three minute advert for the podcast in 2020 in which the couple set out what drew them to podcasting.

Meghan said: "One of the things my husband and I have always talked about is our passion for meeting people and hearing their stories.

"And no matter what the story, they usually offer you an understanding of where someone else is coming from.

"And in some way, remind you of a story about yourself."

She added: "This is also a moment to celebrate kindness and compassion, something we saw in so many places this year, and which will underlie everything you hear from Archewell Audio."

Harry and Meghan said in a joint-statement in 2020: "What we love about podcasting is that it reminds all of us to take a moment and to really listen, to connect to one another without distraction.

"With the challenges of 2020, there has never been a more important time to do so, because when we hear each other, and hear each other's stories, we are reminded of how interconnected we all are."

The Spotify press release announcing the festive special read: "While the first complete series from Archewell Audio and Spotify is not expected to debut until 2021, listeners will get a first glimpse at what Archewell Audio has in store before the year ends!"
