Juan Diego Flórez, Marina Munzo, Francesca Aspromonte, Marina Viotti Headline 2022 Festival de Pâques

The Festival de Pâques has announced a unique new format for its 2022 edition.

Taking place between April 8 and 24, the festival will feature four masterclasses and 31 concerts featuring over 800 artists. The festival will present live performances as well as develop an online presence with 17 streamed concerts. For the purposes of this article, our focus will be on vocal and operatic events.

Kicking off the festivities will be a performance of Mozart’s Requiem conducted by Barbara Hannigan. The showcase, which will feature the Orchestra Philharmonique et Choeur de Radio France at the Grand Théâtre de Provence, will star soprano Johanna Wallroth, mezzo Adanya Dunn, tenor Charles Sy, and bass Yannis François.

There will also be a performance of Berg’s Violin Concerto and Nono’s “Djamila Boupacha.”

Baritone Stéphane Degout and pianist Michel Dalberto will perform music by Fauré, Ropartz, and Schumann.

Performance Date: April 9, 2022

Countertenor Carlo Vistoli and bass Luigi De Donato will join the Ensemble Matheus under Jean-Christophe Spinosi for music by Vivaldi, Marini, Purcell, and Händel.

Performance Date: April 13, 2022

Tenor Raphael Höhn, Café Zimmermann, and Vox Luminis join forces for Bach’s St. John Passion.

Performance Date: April 15, 2022

Laurence Equilbey leads the Insula orchestra and accentus in a performance of extracts from Händel’s “Rodelina,” “Ariodante,” and his “Dixit Dominus, HWV 232. Soloists include Francesca Aspromonte, Ann Hallenberg, and Lawrence Zazzo.

Performance Date: April 16, 2022

Accentus, under Sigvards Klava will perform choral works by Rachmaninoff, Sviridov, Rautavaara, and Vasks.

Performance Date: April 17, 2022

Tenor Juan Diego Flórez and soprano Marina Monzó will perform music by Rossini, Hérold, Donizetti, Gounod, Leoncavallo, and Puccini. They will be joined by the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Lyon and conductor Christopher Franklin.

Performance Date: April 17, 2022

Pymalion and conductor Raphaël Pichon will perform choral music by Ockeghem, Ligeti, Bach, Mendelssohn, Strauss, and Schönberg, among others.

Performance Date: April 21, 2022

Soprano Rachel Harnisch, mezzo Marina Viotti, and pianist Jan Schultsz will team up for music by Brahms.
