Lenovo Legion Phone Duel 2 Pop-up Camera

Lenovo has a new gaming smartphone that could launch later this year

Gaming smartphones really felt like a novelty when they first launched. After all, what was so different about a gaming smartphone that higher-end flagships did not already have? Over the years, we’ve seen how this has evolved where we’re looking at better controls for games, better cooling, better optimization, and more.

That being said, if you’re after a new gaming smartphone, you could be in luck because Lenovo is apparently working on a new one. This is according to a report from Evan Blass (private account) who claims that Lenovo is working on a new gaming smartphone called the Lenovo Halo that will be part of the company’s Legion series of gaming products and is expected to launch in Q3 2022..

Lenovo is definitely no stranger when it comes to gaming phones, having already released quite a few in the market already, but apparently Halo won’t be the successor to 2021’s Legion Pro 2 handset. According to Blass, the Halo will feature a more muted design and will apparently do away with the RGB lighting and custom gaming hardware on the phone.

This means that on the surface it will look like a regular smartphone, but will presumably come with software features to make mobile gaming more optimal.

The tweet also reveals some of the specs of the phone such as its use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, up to 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It is also rumored to sport a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP sensor as its primary camera. Other hardware specs include a 5,000mAh battery that could support 68W fast charging.
