The New York Islanders look to get back into the win column as they face the Philadelphia Flyers for the third time in the last nine days. The Islanders enter the contest having their three-game winning streak come to an end after suffering a 3-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night. Zach Parise scored the Islanders' sole goal, while Semyon Varlamov made 20 saves on 23 shots.

Philadelphia will be on the back end of a back-to-back after the team suffered its 12th-straight loss as they were defeated 3-1 by Dallas on Monday night. After going down 1-0 late in the first period, Ivan Provorov delivered the Flyers the equalizer, but Dallas claimed the victory with a goal in the final four minutes of regulation and an empty-net tally. Flyers netminder Carter Hart made 33 saves on 35 shots in the loss.
The last meeting between the Islanders and Flyers took place on Jan. 18 at Wells Fargo Center. The Islanders pulled out their first shutout win of the year after a marathon shutout that required nine rounds.
Oliver Wahlstrom scored the victorious shootout goal to give the Islanders the 4-3 result. In regulation, Robin Salo scored his first NHL goal, while Josh Bailey and Casey Cizikas also got on the board. Semyon Varlamov made 31 saves and was perfect in the shootout.
For the Flyers, James van Riemsdyk notched a power-play goal, while Travis Konecny and Claude Giroux also scored. Hart made 28 saves.

• With an assist on Parise's tally, Scott Mayfield extended his point streak to three games where the blueliner has compiled four points (1G, 3A) during that span. Through 34 games this season, Mayfield has totaled 10 points (2G, 8A).
• Varlamov made his 11th start of the season, while his record dropped to 3-7-1. The veteran Russian netminder has a 2.65 GAA and a .914 SV%. Varlamov was in net in the Islanders' last game against the Flyers on Jan. 18 which featured nine rounds of a shootout en route to the Islanders' 4-3 SO victory. He made 31 saves in regulation and nine in the shootout.
• In seven-career games against the Flyers, netminder Ilya Sorokin has a 6-0-1 record. Sorokin has made 23 starts this season and owns a 11-7-5 record. The Russian sophomore has a 2.26 GAA, a .928 SV% and four shutouts this season. Sorokin is coming off a 17-save shutout over the Arizona Coyotes on Friday night.
• Josh Bailey's three-game point streak came to an end as he was held without a point against the Leafs. The winger had compiled four points (1G, 3A) during that span. Through 29 games this season, Bailey has produced 18 points (3G, 15A).
• The Islanders relinquished a shorthanded goal against Toronto - for the second time this season against the Leafs. The goal marked the fifth time this season that the Islanders had given up a shorthanded goal.
• The Islanders are 12-4-4 when scoring first and are 2-10-2 when allowing the opening goal.
Anthony Beauvillier was absent from the Islanders' practice on Jan. 24 as he took a 'maintenance day' according to Islanders Head Coach Barry Trotz.

FLYERS NOTES:

• Against Dallas, defenseman Keith Yandle tied Doug Jarvis for the NHL record "Ironman" streak of playing 964 consecutive regular season games. Against the Islanders, the 35-year-old will officially establish the new record and obtain sole possession. Yandle's streak started on Mar. 26, 2009, nearly 13 years ago.
• Provorov scored his fifth goal of the season. The Russian leads Philadelphia's blueline in scoring with 16 points (5G, 11A) through 39 games.
• Carter Hart made his 25th start of the season, while his record dropped to 7-14-5.
• The Flyers are 2-19-3 when the opponent scores the first goal and are 11-2-5 when they score the first goal.
• Neither team took a penalty on Monday night. In the NHL, Philadelphia's power play ranks 27th in the NHL at 15.8%. The Flyers' penalty kill ranks 22nd in the league at 77/6%.
• Philadelphia's captain Claude Giroux leads the team in scoring with 33 points (14G, 19A) through 38 games.
• The Flyers have been hit with some unfortunate injuries as of late as forward Joel Farabee was placed on injured reserve with an upper body injury last week. Kevin Hayes was also put back on IR after having fluid drained from his adductor region and is expected to miss three-to-four weeks. Ryan Ellis (lower body) and Sean Couturier (upper body) are both still on long-term injured reserve (LTIR) with no timeline for their returns. Former Islander Derick Brassard is sidelined with a hip injury.
