Following what looked to be a successful weekend for the “Junior Elite Day” where second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff hosted a few dozen key Texas football recruiting targets, there’s plenty to dissect in the weeks ahead. Junior Day marks a book that is soon to close on Texas’ 2022 class and another one that is about to come to the forefront for the 2023 class.

Sark and the Longhorns staff are really putting a lot of emphasis on building out their quintessential big board for the 2023 class at this point in time. Texas got multiple offers out over the weekend during the Junior Day festivities and hosted some other more familiar faces that are targets of the 2023 class.

The goal now for Sark and the Longhorns will be to capitalize on some of the traction they found on the recruiting trail for both the 2023 and 2024 classes coming out of the weekend. Texas obviously didn’t land any commitments for those recruiting classes during the Junior Day weekend festivities.

But it could be laying the groundwork for some exciting days ahead on the recruiting trail for the Longhorns 2023 class. Laying the foundation for more sustained success with the top targets on the recruiting trail is more important than quick-hitters for this cycle for the Longhorns.

With that in mind, here’s a look at three key targets of the Longhorns 2023 class that were impressed during their respective visits for Junior Day weekend.
