Monday roundup: Christian Parker scores 26 points to tie a career high in Mount Union win

Christian Parker scored 26 points to tie a career high and power the Mount Union men’s basketball team past LaRoche 81-63 on Monday night. 

Parker, the reigning Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week, finished 8 of 13 from the field and 10 of 15 from the free throw line. He also grabbed eight rebounds. 

Braedon Poole shot 9 of 10 from the field and recorded a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Purple Raiders, who improved to 14-2. He also had a game-high five steals. 

Darrell Newsom scored 18 points. Ethan Stanislawski added a game-high nine assists. 

Mount Union led 41-30 at halftime.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

HOBAN 73, GREEN 39  Lanae Riley scored 25 points as the undefeated Knights rolled past visiting Green. 

Adrena Gordon and Emma Rasmussen added 12 points apiece for Hoban (16-0), a Division I state semifinalist last season that entered this week ranked No. 5 in Ohio’s Associated Press Poll. Gordon grabbed five rebounds. 

Hoban’s Erica King had seven steals as the Knights forced 26 Green turnovers. 

Jenna Slates led the Bulldogs (13-4) with 10 points, six rebounds and four steals.
