Beneil Dariush is set to take on one of the scariest UFC contenders at lightweight on February 26. He faces Russia's Islam Makhachev in a main event fight that's expected to reveal the next number one contender.

Beniel Dariush spoke to the media at UFC 270 and made his thoughts on Islam Makhachev clear. Dariush is not scared of him.

“I don’t care where the fight goes,” Dariush told reporters at UFC 270 via MMAJunkie. “I can do whatever I want.”

Islam Makhachev is known for his suffocating ground game that leaves many opponents frustrated. Beneil Dariush just displayed his excellent grappling against Tony Ferguson at UFC 262.

“I haven’t seen anyone really pressure him, and it could be because they couldn’t – they weren’t well-rounded enough,” Dariush said. “If you try pressuring him standing, he takes you down. If you try to apply some jiu-jitsu, his wrestling is so good he doesn’t allow you. From what I’ve seen, they haven’t been able to put pressure on him because they don’t have enough skills, the well-roundedness required to do that. And I think I”m the guy to do that.”

Beneil Dariush will be a big test as he is well-rounded with a good stand-up game and excellent grappling. The UFC lightweight wants to show it come February.

The UFC lightweight was also asked about the gambling odds leading into the fight against Islam Makhachev. He made his feelings very clear.

“I didn’t know the odds, but I think those are silly odds. That’s what I think.”
