Hygge Life’s Alex Gove compiled a list of her favorite home décor shops to visit in mountain towns.

From Vail to Jackson Hole, you’ll find incredible furniture and accessories for your home, all while shopping small and supporting local businesses.

Hygge Life – Avon, CO

Our shop is always changing and evolving, so each time you visit there are new things to see, touch and inspire.

We recently expanded our store to include curated, high-quality furniture pieces: items that are unique, carefully crafted but still incredibly cozy and comfortable for any home.

We receive containers from Denmark quarterly which include bigger home items, furnishings, and then smaller pieces such as home accessories and tabletop items arrive by air monthly.

My favorite items we currently have in the shop?

We just started carrying a spectacular line of vases by artisan Utopia and Utility out of Finland—these vases beautifully combine natural elements such as wood, glass, ceramic and steel, to create statement pieces for any tabletop. The vases are aesthetically beautiful, and unlike any vase or sculpture object I’ve seen.

Another current and longtime favorite of mine are the beautiful brass oil lamps, such as the pebble that is designed by one of my favorite artists Ilse Crawford. It’s the quintessential elegant cozy light. Ilse puts the human experience/feeling at the center of any of her designs.

Pelican Chair House Of Finn Juhl 18 Copy

For furniture pieces, the Pelican Chair by Finn Juhl, an immensely talented Danish designer. Words can’t describe how gorgeous, comfortable and special this chair is, and unlike anything I’m seeing currently offered in Colorado and surrounding states.

Finally, I am in love with the Mad et Len stone potpourris. The couple behind the magic live in the French Alps, where contemporary concepts of a French perfumery meets skilled blacksmithing. This aromatic potpourri is composed of lava rock sediments or amber resin sediments. The potpourri comes with a pipette dropper of different scents and is mixed in artisanal black iron lidded tins, shaped and burned by hand. All irons are hand-hammered with various imperfections giving you one of a kind work of art.

Mountain Dandy – Jackson Hole, WY

Located in the heart of the “town square,” Mountain Dandy just has such a fun store experience. From unique and vintage furniture to accessories for the bar, it boasts a balanced mix of old and new pieces that are perfect for that idyllic mountain home. I love finding items that are fun, spark joy and warm feelings, as well as ones which  have a bit of whimsy that you don’t see every day.

Rumor Designs – Steamboat Springs, CO

Every time we take a day trip to Steamboat Springs, I make time to visit Rumor Designs. They have a really beautiful and chic coffee bar inside, where you can sip on an espresso before browsing the shop’s offerings that is also a beautiful mix of old and new.

When we last visited, I bought some stunning wallpaper by the incredibly talented Kelly Wearstler that was perfect for our powder room. This shop is largely focused on design services, but they have a showroom where you can purchase from a large selection of home décor items.

Park City Mercantile — Park City, UT

I love to visit Park City Mercantile, and their shelves are overflowing with fun accessories, gifts and decorative items that add character to your home or particular space. I can easily get into trouble as they have beautiful things I don’t need, but can’t seem to live without (or at least don’t want to!). A couple items that caught my attention:

Authentic artisan juicer by verve. It’s as beautiful as it is functional. [https://www.instagram.com/p/CYW3sRyuBRJ/]

Palomar Baskets by texxture. The name of the shop says it all.

Gigi Pip Wool Hats that look gorgeous on a woman or purposely left on the entryway bench atop some old leather-bound books.

Pitkin Projects – Aspen, CO

If you’re looking to be inspired by vibrant color, be sure to visit Pitkin Projects when in Aspen next. It’s truly a feast for the eyes with very unique furnishings, art and decor that you’ve never seen before. Like us, they collaborate are features artists from around the world. You’ll find décor amongst a lot of art and a lot of color.
