Entering into the boombox arena is the Monster Blaster 3.0. This boombox is a portable unit with a durable handle to carry with one hand, or you can toss it on your shoulder like a 1980s Run DMC music video.
Inside the metal anodized mesh speaker cover are four 15-watt full-range speakers (a set of two on each side) and a 60-watt integrated subwoofer. There is no need for a handful of C or D batteries to charge this bad boy like the old boombox days. It holds enough rechargeable battery power to be in use for up to 12 hours before it needs to be plugged in.
Multiple connections
It connects to your phone or mobile devices via Bluetooth and has NFC to connect to your phone seamlessly. It also has a 3.5 mm port for a wired connection to an older device. There are two modes for playing music — outdoor and indoor, and a handy light indicator on the side of the speaker to let you know which mode you are on.
Works in the rain
When it’s in use outdoors, you don’t have to worry about a little unwanted weather rolling in. The Monster Blast 3.0 rated IPX 4 water-resistant, so a bit of rain or a splash up from the pool shouldn’t be a bother.
While we’re on the topic of durability, the speaker mesh combined with the matte textured finished plastic encasing is scratch-resistant. It even looks like it can handle a beating with the hex screws on display throughout the plastic casing (in other words, looks aren’t deceiving).
Powers all your gadgets
Usually, when you find your phone’s battery is on the fritz and you don’t have a wall outlet or battery pack handy, you’re out of luck. But the Monster Blast 3.0 has a USB-A port charging port that can charge your phone’s battery and keep the tunes going.
Public announcement for on the go
And if you really want to liven up the party, you can plug a microphone into the mic-in port and use the Monster Blaster as your own personal portable PA system and, yes, even karaoke. The choice is yours.
