ZAK-ING OUT

Man Utd and Liverpool ‘cool transfer interest in Denis Zakaria with Juventus and Roma favourites to sign Bundesliga ace’

MANCHESTER UNITED and Liverpool are reportedly pulling out of the scramble to sign Denis Zakaria.

The Red Devils have spoken to the Borussia Monchengladbach star's agents but are unlikely to make a bid, according to Fabrizio Romano.

And the timing is apparently wrong for the Reds, who do not want to make a move in this January transfer window.

Bayern Munich and Arsenal have also been linked with the Bundesliga star.

And Spanish giants Barcelona are also thought to be monitoring the situation.

The 25-year-old midfielder has entered the last six months of his contract and is unwilling to consider staying at Monchengladbach once it expires.

Reports last week suggested United had already offered Zakaria a contract and would rather pay a fee this month than wait until the summer.

But German champions Bayern are now favorites to secure his signature as a replacement for soon to be out-of-contract Corentin Tolisso.

Zakaria has been at Borussia Monchengladbach since 2017 and has made over 100 appearances in total.

This season he has appeared 17 times, scoring twice and earning one assist.
