American fashion designer and entrepreneur Virgil Abloh sadly passed away in November 2021 at the age of 41 after losing his battle with cancer.

Abloh worked as artistic director of Louis Vuitton's menswear collection in 2018 and he was given increased creative responsibilities across the LVMH brand in early 2021.

He was also the chief executive officer of Milan-based label Off White, a fashion house that he founded in 2013.

Louis Vuitton will this week auction off 200 special edition pairs of the Nike Air Force 1 by Virgil Abloh sneakers through Sotheby's.

The bidding will take place from January 26 through to February 8 and the shoes are expected to start at $2,000 in price.

The auction is the debut release of the sneakers which were created by Abloh in collaboration with Louis Vuitton and Nike for Louis Vuitton’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection.

Abloh himself was involved in the organisation of the auction and related events prior to his passing.

Proceeds from the auction will go to The Virgil Abloh 'Post-Modern' Scholarship Fund that supports the education of students of Black, African American, or African descent.
