It's no secret that the Land Cruiser 300 has been a homerun success for Toyota. It even went to a point that in Japan, customers are reportedly asked to sign a contractual agreement preventing buyers to resell their Land Cruiser for profit, especially since the waitlist has grown to one year.

Now though, those who are waiting for the new Land Cruiser will have to wait a lot longer than one year. As a matter of fact, the waitlist for Toyota's off-roader has grown to four times that.

On its Japanese website, Toyota has issued a formal apology, stating that ordering a Land Cruiser now means waiting for your shiny new SUV to arrive at your garage four years later. The Google-translated announcement says:

And then the following paragraph confirms what every Land Cruiser buyer's worst nightmare is:

Just imagine, today was the day you or your wife gave birth to your first child. By the time your shiny new Land Cruiser arrives, your child would already be in pre-school. Four years is a very long waiting time, and you could have probably achieved or earned so much by then that you can already afford something more luxurious and expensive than a Land Cruiser 300.

But then, the Land Cruiser 300 is an extraordinary car. Either way, the Land Cruiser 300 isn't coming to America. Instead, what we're getting is its more luxurious version, the Lexus LX 600, which is expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2022.

The Lexus LX 600 is similar to the Land Cruiser not just in its platform, but also with its engine. Powering this behemoth of a luxury SUV is a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 gasoline engine that produces 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. This is then mated to a ten-speed automatic driving all four wheels.

Alongside this is the impending arrival of the new Toyota Sequoia, which will most likely share the same platform as the Land Cruiser.
