Bills QB’s biggest critic finally admits he was wrong: ‘No more Josh Allen slander from me’

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen put together one of the best two game stretches in NFL postseason history.

In the Bills’ Wild Card win over the New England Patriots, Allen threw more touchdown passes (5) than incomplete passes (4). He threw for 308 yards in the win completing 21-of-25 passes and added another 66 yards rushing.

While Allen’s play against the Patriots, a top-five defense, was outstanding, you could make the case that his performance against the Kansas City Chiefs was even more impressive. On the road, Allen dominanted the Chiefs’ defense. He completed 27-of-37 passes for 329 yards and four touchdowns while adding 68 yards on the ground. Allen would give Buffalo the lead twice in the final two minutes of the game, but the Bills ultimately lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime 42-36.

The quarterback’s play on the road was impressive enough on its own, but perhaps the greatest achievement from Allen’s night was finally silencing his biggest critic.

On Monday, Nick Wright of First Things First on FS1 admitted that he has been wrong about slandering Josh Allen.

“I have a major announcement here. No more Josh Allen slander from me,” said Wright. “I tip my cap, he was great. He deaded the Magic Mountain stuff. He deaded it. The graphic was great. It was two years of glory. But when I said this week, ‘You know what comes right after the biggest peak is the biggest fall.’ And he follows up the biggest peak with an even higher peak... That was the greatest game he ever played.”

Wright, a Chiefs fan, admitted that Allen’s play was downright terrifying to watch as he knew Buffalo’s QB was capable of defeating the Chiefs.

“As someone who was rooting for the other team, he was terrifying, okay? I tip my cap, sir,” said Wright. “He was terrifying throughout the game and there’s no slander from me that you’ll hear... He was great.”

Wright made one final admission. He believes Allen and the Bills would have been victorious on Sunday had the game been played at Highmark Stadium.

“The next step for him is making sure games like this--on years the Chiefs stumble--are in Buffalo and this game would have been in Buffalo if Josh Allen and the Bills could have scored 10 points against the Jaguars,” said Wright. “Or making sure you don’t have to play the Chiefs in Round 2. You play them in Round 3 and the Bills would have been the one seed if he could have got in from the one yard line against the Titans. So the stuff about the up and down was real. I don’t think the Chiefs win that game if it’s in Buffalo. I’m retiring the Josh Allen jokes. He was sensational and I give him all the credit in the world.”

Wright’s point was a valid one. If Buffalo had taken care of business this season in some of their one score games, they could still be playing this upcoming weekend and hosting the AFC Championship.
