Woolrich Sets Its Sights on the Zeitgeist with A Bathing Ape Collab

When we say Woolrich is a heritage brand, that seems like a bit of an understatement. The flannel experts have been around since 1830, which may as well be two whole centuries at this point, and they’ve been sticking to their roots every step of the way. Be that as it may, a bit of modern flair could never hurt, and A Bathing Ape has provided streetwear lovers with it for years. As we’ve seen worlds collide before, the new collaboration collection between both brands should come as no surprise.

Seeing as it is the first time these names have teamed up with one another, each one managed to bring its signature embellishments to the table. The flagship trio of standout pieces in this street-credited joint effort is its luxurious Arctic Parka, Ape Head Cushions, and plush blankets, all three of which feature an intriguing blend of Woolrich’s timeless Buffalo Check flannel pattern and BAPE’s trademark camo motif. Beginning ith the parka, we’re looking at a wool jacquard-crafted piece of broodingly red outerwear clad with 90/10 down-fill insulation and a detachable fur hood, making this one seriously warm piece of fashion.

As far as the capsule’s other pieces are concerned, the Ape Head Cushion also makes use of Woolrich’s enviously soft wool jacquard, as one side boasts the aforementioned Buffalo Check pattern while the other is draped with more camo. Lastly, the blanket fuses these two emblematic designs and measures 52″ x 58″. Rounding out the capsule is a pair of graphic t-shirts that commemorate the collaboration with simplicity, but we frankly can’t get over that premier parka.

The BAPE and Woolrich Collaboration Collection serves as a flawless display of how something deeply rooted in Americana can gain some outside inspiration from something as far-flung as a Japanese streetwear brand. If you’re looking to get your hands on a piece from this latest joint effort, you can find it in its entirety on Woolrich’s website, starting from $140.
