Moderna and Pfizer booster clinics at Ithaca Mall vaccine site this weekend

Booster doses of both the Moderna Coronavirus vaccine and the Pfizer Coronavirus vaccine are available at a vaccination clinic this Saturday for all eligible residents ages 12 and up, at the county’s Ithaca Mall site, the Tompkins County Health Department says.

“Over the past month, TCHD has boosted over 1,850 adults and close to 400 youth,” says Tompkins County public health director Frank Kruppa. “I want to thank our dedicated county staff supporting the efforts to provide these vaccination clinics and to thank our community members for their participation in these essential steps to keep our community healthy and safe.”

“Vaccines continue to be an important tool to help limit the spread and severity of illness,” says Tompkins County public health director Frank Kruppa. “I encourage anyone eligible to seek out a booster at one of our clinics or any of the NYS sites open in our region. With the ongoing surge of cases due to the Omicron variant, the booster dose provides that extra layer of protection to prevent severe illness and hospitalization of the individual as well as relatives who may be at high risk of complications from the virus.”

“Booster doses are important right now because they maximize your protection against COVID-19,” says Tompkins County Health Department medical director Dr. William Klepack. “We encourage all individuals who are eligible, especially those over the age of 50 and others with underlying health conditions, to get their booster dose as soon as they are able. Data continue to show that all available vaccines are safe and effective to prevent severe illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19.”

“Free transportation is also available to vaccination clinics,” the Health Department says. “Present proof of your vaccination appointment to ride any TCAT bus free of charge. Alternative transportation arrangements can be arranged by calling 2-1-1 (1.877.211.8667) during regular business hours, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm.”
