According to cops, officers responded at around 6:37 a.m. to a 911 call about a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Third Avenue and East 76th Street.

Upon their arrival, officers found the victim unconscious and unresponsive with trauma to her head and body.

EMS transported the 51-year-old to Lenox Hill Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 59-year-old woman was driving an Audi sedan on East 76th Street when she made a right turn onto Third Avenue, striking the victim, who has not been identified pending family notification.

Authorities said the driver remained on the scene and was not injured.

The investigation by the NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Squad is ongoing.
