SAN FRANCISCO — Klay Thompson did not practice with the Warriors on Monday and is questionable for Tuesday night’s game because of soreness in his surgically repaired left knee.

If Thompson doesn’t play Tuesday, it will mark the third straight game — and fourth straight day — that he has missed. He sat out Friday night by design as the Warriors were playing the second game of a back-to-back. After a day off Saturday, Thompson was scratched from the lineup minutes before Sunday’s game.

Coach Steve Kerr said trainer Rick Celebrini recommended the move after Thompson felt a “tweak” in the knee that he had repaired in 2019. Kerr said the decision was more “cautionary” than “concerning” and listed Thompson as “day-to-day.”

Then came Monday. Thompson put up some shots, but did not practice.

Thompson, who turns 32 on Feb. 8, recently returned from a 30-month absence during which he rehabbed from surgeries on his left ACL and his right Achilles. His grand return, Jan. 9 at Chase Center, was his first game in 941 days. In six games, while playing on a 24-minute limit, Thompson is averaging 14.7 points. He has struggled with his shot, especially from 3-point range. A 40-percent shooter from long distance for his career, Thompson has shot 30 percent since his return.
