EastEnders spoilers follow.
Phil Mitchell has broken up with girlfriend Kat Slater in a sad EastEnders scene.
The Walford crime boss recently learned the shocking truth that he could be facing a lifetime behind bars due to police pressing a variety of serious charges against him.
Kat has tried to stand by Phil even though he has yet to tell the truth about the uncertain future he is facing. He has made out that he will likely only spend a few years in prison.
Jean Slater intervened in Monday's episode (January 24) to question her relative over whether she was willing to stand by Phil once he goes to prison, but Kat was steadfast in supporting her man.

Kat was later shocked to find out that Ben is putting the family business up for sale following his own trauma. She decided to spend some quality time with Phil by switching off his mobile.
Phil eventually found out what Kat had done, raging at her for causing him to miss some important phone calls. Jean intervened once again, only this time she tried to remind Phil of how much Kat cared for him.
After he eventually apologised to Kat for blowing up, he came to a shock decision when he broke her heart by announcing they couldn't be together anymore.

Phil wouldn't reveal the truth about potentially spending the rest of his life in prison, so Kat was totally blindsided by her boyfriend cutting things off so abruptly.
"It's been good. It's been a laugh, but this 'us', it ain't what I thought it was and I don't want it hanging over me when I go inside," he told a crushed Kat. "It's over, Kat. Over."
Will Phil come clean with Kat so she has a chance to support him?
EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
