  1. Monopoly is cheap initially, but expensive in the long run.

    For a long time, I preferred Gmail over BU’s and other universities software. In the hindsight, in-house solutions are much more resilient. What happens if Google not just increase the price, but simply censors entire BU because of the views of one student or professor? What if a court shutdown entire Google for their conduct? Relying on a monopoly is expensive and dangerous.

  2. So, after a decade of this bait-and-switch “data harvesting plan” to gain market share and sell ads, I guess it’s time to monitize this demographic even more. Touche Google! What ever happened to “Don’t Be Evil”?
