Insane Hakim Hart stat linked to Maryland wins and losses

This season has been up and down for the Maryland men’s basketball team. Friday’s upset of Illinois put the Terrapins one game over .500 with a 10-9 record. Inconsistency has been the glaring on-court issue with the team. However, one rule of thumb that has been consistent this season, an insane Hakim Hart trend linked to Maryland’s wins and losses.

Hart had 10 points and three assists against Illinois. But, what’s more important is the junior guard had four steals. That’s significant because when Hart gets two or more steals, Maryland is a perfect 9-0 this season.

Maryland is 1-9 when Hart doesn’t pull off at least two steals in a game. The only game the Terps won this season without Hart getting two steals was a Nov. 19 game against Hofstra.

Hart leads the team with 1.7 steals per game.He averages 2.7 steals in Maryland’s 10 wins and a mere 0.7 in their nine losses.

Everything else about the Terps’ season has been up and down from the head coach stepping down after eight games; an assistant coach being suspended 30 days; and playing with an interim. Yet, Hart’s steals trend is consistently on point.

Next opportunity to see if the trend sticks will be Tuesday when the Terps play at Rutgers Tuesday night.
