Matchweek 23 provided another highly entertaining weekend of football. There were plenty of talking points ahead of the international break with last-gasp winners, controversial VAR decisions and begrudged managers.

Manchester United hosted West Ham in a fiercely contested fixture at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon. The game looked destined to end in a draw until Marcus Rashford found the back of the net in the 90+3rd minute.

It was Edinson Cavani who provided the assist to help the Red Devils secure three points and leap frog the Hammers in the table to occupy fourth place.

Meanwhile, defending champions Manchester City travelled to take on 12th-placed Southampton on Saturday. Much to the Citizens' surprise, Southampton took the lead through a Kyle Walker-Peters strike in the seventh minute of the game.

However, City struck back in the 65th minute with a superb effort from Aymeric Laporte to see the Saints relinquish their advantage.

Sunday's fixture between sixth-placed Arsenal and 17th-placed Burnley turned out to be a 0-0 thriller. Despite both teams failing to find the back of the net, the game was action packed.

Arsenal dominated the game - completing 20 shots and having 76 per cent of the possession - but it was Burnley's defensive diligence that held the Gunners to a goalless draw.

The result will come as a blow to Mikel Arteta's side - who are chasing a top-four finish this season.

Liverpool's 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace was filled with controversy. The Reds took the lead through Virgil van Dijk and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain before Odsonne Edouard clawed one back for the visitors.

However it was what happened next that lead to the backlash. Kevin Friend and Craig Pawson awarded Liverpool a penalty in the 89th minute following Diogo Jota's collision with Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita. As a result, Fabinho stepped up to increase Liverpool's lead to 3-1.

Meanwhile, Chelsea's clash with Tottenham had its fair share of controversial moments - including Harry Kane's disallowed goal. The England captain thought he had given Spurs the lead five minutes before the break, but his effort was ruled out by referee Paul Tierney. Chelsea went on to score two goals in the second half to finish the game off at 2-0.

So, with all that in mind, Sportsmail have brought you a Power Rankings table - listing the top 10 players in the Premier League following this weekend's action.

10. Josh Sargent (New entry)

Josh Sargent scored a brace to help Norwich secure back-to-back Premier League wins and boost their chances of survival this season.

The 21-year-old's first goal saw him adjust his feet to produce a superb improvised volley to break the deadlock in the 51st minute of the game.

He then added to his tally in the 74th minute by rising above Hassane Kamara to header home his side's second goal of the evening.

Norwich went on to win the game 3-0 after Emmanuel Dennis was sent off and Juraj Kucka scored an own goal in stoppage time.

9. Hakim Ziyech (New entry)

Hakim Ziyech has made it into this week's top 10 thanks to his performance against Tottenham this weekend. The 28-year-old was responsible for ending Antonio Conte's unbeaten run after finding the back of the net in the 47th minute.

Ziyech's impressive strike was goal pivotal in shaping the game. Chelsea went on to their second just eight minutes later thanks to a fine effort from Thiago Silva.

However, Ziyech deserves extra credit for the nature of his outrageous finish as he received the ball on edge of the box, after Callum Hudson-Odoi surged forward, and curled his shot into the top corner.

The strike even left Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris rooted to the spot in astonishment.

8. Bruno Fernandes (Down two places)

Bruno Fernandes has dropped down two places in this week's power rankings. This is because the Portuguese international was somewhat wasteful with the ball against West Ham on Saturday.

West Ham's organised defence proved to be too much for the playmaker as he struggled to move the ball on efficiently and lost possession in the middle of the pitch on multiple occasions.

However, Fernandes was responsible for engineering Manchester United's first real chance of the game. He played in an excellent cross to Cristiano Ronaldo - who couldn't quite finish it off (a sentence you very rarely read).

7. Danny Welbeck (New entry)

Danny Welbeck has been touted for an England recall following his recent performances.

Welbeck came off the bench against Leicester to find the bottom corner with eight minutes remaining on the clock.

His goal even cancelled out Patson Daka's opener to see the Seagulls walk away from the King Power Stadium with a point.

Having now scored a variety of goals this season and caused various problems for his opponents' defence, Graham Potter says Welbeck is back to where he left off late last season.

'With Danny it was a bit of a process. He missed a lot of pre-season. He wasn't training with anybody at Watford. It was always going to take a bit of time just to understand him and get himself up to speed in terms of playing and the right amount of minutes and how much training we can do and all those things.

'We are in a really good place with Danny at the moment but we have been for a long time. We are really happy with him, I think he is enjoying his football. He enjoys being with the boys, he is a key member of the group, he has a big influence on everybody pretty much, a positive influence.

'But the most important thing is he wants to help the team, he wants to play and he wants to influence the game. I think the longer he is with us the better he will get.'

6. Fabinho (Down one place)

Fabinho helped Jurgen Klopp's side secure a crucial three points away to Crystal Palace on Sunday by scoring from the penalty spot.

The spot kick was a topic of debate on Sunday as Palace trailed 2-1 to Liverpool when the controversial decision was made.

Referee Kevin Friend did not initially give a penalty following Jota's collision with Guaita. However, following a word in his ear from VAR referee Craig Pawson, the on-field ref went to look at the pitch-side monitor.

After watching the replay several times, Friend reversed his decision and awarded the Reds a penalty in the 89th minute - allowing Fabinho to increase Liverpool's lead to 3-1.

Regardless of the decision, Fabinho did well to place the ball in the back of the net - having now scored four times in his last five appearances for the club.

Fabinho also did well in open play - producing a stellar performance after sustaining what Liverpool described as a 'proper knock' during Thursday's win at Arsenal.

5. Bernardo Silva (Down three places)

Bernardo Silva has dropped down the power rankings this week after a slightly more underwhelming performance against Southampton.

The 27-year-old struggled to perform during the first half and only began to make an impact in the second.

However, it was by no means a bad day at the office for Silva - who achieved his 22nd consecutive Premier League start.

4. Jarrod Bowen (Non mover)

Jarrod Bowen has held onto the fourth spot in this week's top 10. He was included in last week's list after performing well against Leeds United.

He scored his third goal in two Premier League games with a lovely header to level the scoreline at 1-1 against the Whites.

However, this week, he has managed to secure his place despite the fact West Ham lost to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Bowen was dangerous in attack, he fired a shot into the side-netting before Tomas Soucek's header flew just wide of the far post in the first half.

He also caused problems for Telles and drove the entire length of the pitch with the ball at the end of his feet in the second half.

3. Andy Robertson (new entry)

Welcome to the top 10 Andy Robertson - it's well deserved.

Robertson was in exceptional form against Crystal Palace. He was one of Liverpool's best attacking outlets during the game. The Scot was always available to Van Dijk and Curtis Jones. He also linked well with Diogo Jota.

Robertson played an important role in Liverpool's opening goal by providing the perfect cross for Van Dijk to head home. This added to Robertson's confidence during the game - making him unstoppable in attack.

Robertson registered a second assist to help Liverpool go 2-0 up before the half-time break. He delivered the ball to Oxlade-Chamberlain, who placed it in the back of the net.

2. Joao Cancelo (Up one place)

Joao Cancelo has been regarded as one of the best full backs in the Premier League this season and it comes as no surprise considering his recent performances.

Cancelo landed a place in Sportsmail's top 10 last week - returning to the fold for the first time since the opening weekend in December.

The Manchester City defender has not only kept his place in the top 10, but moved up to second.

This is due to his defensive work against Southampton. The 27-year-old made an important tackle to stop the Saints from counter-attacking in the first half.

He also looked dangerous in attack. However, he must work on his crossing ability going forwards.

1. Kevin De Bruyne (Non mover)

Kevin De Bruyne landed the top spot last week after being the difference in Manchester City's blockbuster clash with Chelsea.

He not only curled a glorious 20-yard finish into the bottom corner but provided City with the tenacity they needed to overcome the Blues.

The Belgium international managed to maintain the form that earned him the top spot last week, while playing against Southampton on Saturday.

Southampton took the lead in the opening seven minutes of the game. However, De Bruyne's provided a phenomenal cross into the path of Laporte for the equaliser.

The Manchester City star also hit the post with a sensational effort shortly after his assist and almost claimed a penalty.
