Emma Roberts and Garrett Hedlund have apparently called it quits after three years of dating, although they are committed to still amicably co-parenting.

The couple split a few weeks ago following several “rocky” months, according to People. A source told the outlet, “It’s sad, and they are trying their best to co-parent.” They added, “It’s been hard.” News of their breakup comes one month after they celebrated their son Rhodes’s first birthday with a rodeo-themed party.

The actors began dating in March 2019 and in December 2020 welcomed their baby. Roberts was previously engaged to actor Evan Peters, whom she dated from 2012 to 2019, and Hedlund was also briefly engaged to Kirsten Dunst, whom he dated from 2012 to 2016.

Roberts shared the first photo of their newborn on Instagram in January, writing, “Thank you 2020 for getting one thing right. Our bright light Rhodes Robert Hedlund.” An insider previously told the magazine that, “Having a newborn in the pandemic has been a lot harder than either of them expected, but they’re really, really trying their best to figure things out.” They added, “Garrett totally stepped it up after Emma was still recovering after giving birth. He made sure that their house was stocked with things that Emma liked and needed so she felt comfortable. She’s just starting to get back into a more ‘normal’ routine.”

Following news of their breakup, Hedlund was arrested in Tennessee on Saturday night for public intoxication, according to TMZ. The Friday Night Lights star was apparently arrested and taken into custody in Franklin County. On Monday, he was released on a $2,100 bond and is due back in court in March. Hedlund is also currently being sued for negligence after allegedly causing a head-on collision when he fell asleep behind the wheel in Los Angeles in January 2020, according to documents obtained by E! News. And in February 2020, Hedlund was also arrested and charged with two DUI offenses in Los Angeles. In November 2020, a representative told Page Six that he had “sought treatment” and was subsequently “in a solid and great place.”
