A Lehigh County man is accused of trying to break into a Northampton County apartment and attacking a police officer that responded.

The officer was hospitalized with “visible injuries” after the attack, although court records on the arrest didn’t specify the severity of the injuries and whether he’s since been discharged.

The suspect -- identified in records as Isaiah Dion Mosley, 29, of Allentown -- faces six charges including aggravated assault, strangulation, and criminal trespass.

He was sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $200,000 bail, where he remained as of Monday.

Northampton Borough police were called Friday around 3 p.m. for a domestic disturbance at an apartment in the 2300 block of Main Street.

Mosley allegedly tried to kick down an apartment door and was refusing to leave when officers arrived.

Officer Geoffrey Perry told Mosley to come down the stairs to talk to him and waited for him at the bottom of the steps, according to court records.

Perry and witnesses reported Mosley walked down the stairs and then lunged at Perry, pushing him, court records say.

Mosley allegedly bear hugged Perry and threw him to the ground. Mosley punched Perry in the head and face, and at one point choked the officer, police said.

A witness reported Perry was telling Mosley to calm down and come talk to him when Mosley attacked and “trampled” the officer in an aggressive manner, court records say.

The department said Perry was still on the ground and had one of Mosley’s hands in handcuffs, when two other officers arrived on scene.

The two other officers arrested Mosley, who reportedly told police he had the right to resist “unlawful” arrest by any means possible, short of taking an officer’s life, according to court records.

Mosley had a few cuts but reportedly refused medical treatment, police said.

Perry was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital for treatment. Borough police on Monday said Perry was treated at the hospital and released the same day.
