A man in custody for a fatal double shooting in Central Austin over the weekend is now charged with capital murder.
Yong Yoon Kim, 31, is charged with capital murder for the deaths of Nathan Limoge and Christopher Rivers -- both were 28 years old.
It happened Saturday in the 7700 block of Burnet Road, just south of the intersection with West Anderson Lane.
The Austin Police Department says at around 11:45 a.m. they received a 9-1-1 call of a double shooting in a parking lot. Responding officers and EMS medics found Limoge and Rivers with life-threatening injuries.
Lifesaving measures were attempted, but both succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene just before noon, according to APD.
While processing the scene, APD says homicide detectives came into contact with Yong Yoon Kim, who had also called 9-1-1, saying he had gotten into an altercation with two men and shot them in self-defense. However, eyewitnesses at the scene gave "contrary accounts of the shooting," and Kim was arrested and booked into the Travis County jail.
Anyone with information is asked to call APD Homicide at 512-974-TIPS or the Crime Stoppers tip line at 512-472-8477 (TIPS).
These are Austin's 5th and 6th homicides of 2022.
