A vigil was held Sunday in Boise near where 22-year-old Matt Cueller was shot and mortally wounded.
Family and friends gathered, leaving candles, flowers and balloons, all in remembrance of Matt. He passed away after getting shot last Saturday in a Boise vista neighborhood at a get-together.
It was a situation no one expected, and Sunday night, they wanted to have one last send-off to celebrate Matt's life.
"He was a light to anybody that he met, really," said Maribel Garcia, Matt's sister. "He was just a beautiful person, inside and out, and that's how I'm always going to remember him."
From songs and stories, Matt's light still burns bright in the many lives he touched, even after the candles burn out.
Now, the man who shot and killed Matt is charged with second-degree murder and is set for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 26.
