Mark Martin shows some interest in NASCAR tv team

Former NASCAR driver candidly knocks himself when asked about joining the NASCAR broadcast booth

Mark Martin spent 31 years in the NASCAR Cup Series. He retired in 2013 with 882 races on his resume.

Since, the 63-year-old has found a new passion for RVing. The former driver now takes to the road in beautiful rigs en route to various campgrounds.

After his fast paced racing career, Martin is living the life of retirement. He’s stated multiple times that he has no interest in driving race cars anymore.

But, he’s still a fan. His RV can be spotted at many dirt track races throughout the year. And he still watches NASCAR on television.

A few days ago, FOX announced that Tony Stewart would join the broadcast team for the LA Coliseum and the Daytona 500. It appears they’ll be rotating booth talent after Jeff Gordon departed last year.

With the news of the broadcast team, Martin was asked by a fan if he would be interested in walking into the booth.

“I have a few reasons I wouldn’t want to,” Mark Martin opened via twitter.

“I don’t think I would be any good at it. I’m afraid I would embarrass myself. I’m dumb as hell. I love being retired and hate meeting a schedule anymore.”

He explained, “I enjoy watching it on TV and letting the experts do a great job. I might try.”

Martin has 40 wins at the NASCAR Cup Series level, 49 in Xfinity and another 7 in trucks.
