Bloodywood Drop New Indian Folk + Nu-Metal Banger “Aaj”

Bloodywood, the outfit that built their name on metal covers of traditional Indian music, have pivoted that early viral hype into real deal success and their latest original single, “Aaj,” is all the proof you should need.

The video for “Aaj” has nearly 125,000 YouTube views since its release on Friday. “Gaddaar,” the prior single, is closing in on 800,000 since November. And it’s easy to see why people like ’em so much: while mixing traditional Indian folk music and metal might seem jarring in theory, they execute it seamlessly, melding not only folk instrumentation with metal guitars and drums but English lyrics with Hindi/Punjabi. I gah-rawn-tee you’re singing along, even if you don’t know what they’re saying! (although they’ve got subtitles now for the cheap seats).

Check out “Aaj” below. Bloodywood’s Rakshak comes out on February 18. Order here (U.S.) and here (rest of world).
