'Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection' Release Date, Pricing and How Long to Beat

The Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection will be released for PS5 this week, allowing you to experience two of the most beloved adventures of the last console generation with a next-gen coat of paint.

Easily ranking amongst the biggest releases of January 2022, this bundle includes remastered versions of both Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and its expansion (which eventually became a standalone title) Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.

These games were already pushing the PlayStation 4 to its technological limits at launch — with incredibly polished character animations, photoreal graphics and outstanding levels of detail —but they have now been enhanced for newer hardware.

With the Legacy of Thieves Collection, each title has been overhauled with 3D spatial audio (provided that you've got the right TV set-up), near-instantaneous loading times, and the PS5's DualSense functionality.

In terms of the latter, the games will utilize haptic feedback haptic vibrations and the controller's adaptive triggers to simulate things like the impact of a punch landing, or the traction a 4x4 vehicle has on different surfaces.

As well as those minor tweaks, the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection gives you a choice of various presentations settings. First, there is a "Fidelity Mode" that prioritizes a sharp 4K resolution, with a 30 frame per second (fps) target frame rate. Alternatively, there is a "Performance Mode" that downgrades the visual quality a little in exchange for 60 fps. Finally, there is a "Performance + Mode" which targets 120 FPs at a 1080p resolution.

Regardless of which of these settings you choose, you are guaranteed to have a fantastic experience, given that the Uncharted series has always looked stunning, even at 1080p, and consistently runs smoothly.

Does the 'Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection' Have Multiplayer?

While a lot of improvements have been made with the remasters, one thing that might disappoint fans is that the Legacy of Thieves Collection is single-player only.

Neither the online modes from Uncharted 4 nor The Lost Legacy are not included here. Naturally, the trophies associated with these modes won't be featured either, so you won't have to worry about missing out on the platinum at least.

When Is the 'Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection' Release Date?

Fans will be able to pick up the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection on Friday, January 28. It is available to pre-order now as either a physical disc or a digital bundle.

How Much Does the 'Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection' Cost?

If you are purchasing the entire bundle, and do not own either Uncharted 4 or The Lost Legacy already, then it will cost you $49.99.

However, if you are in possession of PS4 copies of either game, then you will be able to upgrade to the next-gen versions for just $10 each. The process for doing this will be very similar to how Final Fantasy VII Remake players claimed the "Intergrade" remaster back in June 2021, using the PS Store.

It's worth pointing out that, if you own Uncharted 4 or The Lost Legacy on physical media, then you must insert the corresponding disc to access this $10 upgrade. What's more, you will need to insert that PS4 disc every single time that you want to play the enhanced PS5 version in the future.

Finally, those who claimed Uncharted 4 through a PlayStation Plus subscription will not be entitled to the $10 upgrade and will need to pay the full $49.99 price.

How Long Is the 'Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection'?

For the most part, Naughty Dog's games are very linear and constructed around tightly-scripted narrative beats. As such, there isn't too much variation in the length of the user-submitted playthrough times for Uncharted 4.

According to the aggregate site "How Long to Beat" (often abbreviated to HLTB), the game can be finished by the average player in around 15 hours. Of course, this can be inflated to up to 29 hours if you want to be a true completist, find all the hidden treasures and conquer the hardest difficulty setting. Otherwise, it's not like there are any side-quests or open-world distractions that could eat up your time.

The Lost Legacy is a little shorter (it was originally intended to be DLC after all) with it being possible to reach the end credits in just 7 hours. It's a little more exploration-oriented than Uncharted 4 though, so there is a chance you could take a little longer if you stray from the beaten path. Outside of the main story, finding all the hidden treasures and optional character interactions could require up to 16 hours.

With that being said, if you intend on bingeing both games in the Legacy of Thieves Collection on PS5, it will probably take you a minimum of 22 hours. Meanwhile, completionists might want to set aside 45 hours instead.
