AND RITGH NOW, THE WEST PALM BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT ARE SHARING SOME IMPORTANT SAFETY TIPS FOR PEOPLEO T KEEP IN MIND AS THEY WARM UP THEIR HOUSES TONIGHT EXPERT SAYF I YOU’RE TURNING ON YOUR SPACE HEATER, YOU LLWI LIKELY SMELLED DUST BURNING OFF THE COILS. BUT ATTH SMELL, IF IT DOES NOT DISSIPATE, OR YOU SMELL SMOKE OR SEE FLAMES, MAKE SUREOU Y CALL 911. THEY SAY TO KEEP ANYTHING FLAMMABLE AT LEAST THREE FEET AWAY FROM A PORTLEAB HEATER AND DO NOT LET CHILDREN NEAR THEM. NEVER USE YOUR OVEN OR COOKING PLAPIANCES TO HEAT YOUR HOME. MAKE SURE TO TURN OFF PORTABLE HEATERS WHEN YOU GO TO BED OR LEAVE YOUR ROOM. OFFICIALS ALSO SAY PEOPLE SHOULD TEST THEIR SKEMO ALARMS EVERY MONTH AND HAVE CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS INSTALLED IN THEIR HOME.
