San Francisco, CA – The Golden State Warriors were going through their gameday workout routines when they received some unexpected news about star Klay Thompson. Steve Kerr explained to the media during his pregame interview what he was told regarding the setback.

“We just had a walkthrough and he was planning on playing, and Rick (Celebrini) came to me and said, ‘I think we should hold Klay out.' I didn't even realize anything was wrong. Rick just said it would be wise to hold him out. He just has a little bit of tweak in the knee, so we're going to hold him out,” Kerr told ClutchPoints.

The knee that the Warriors are being very careful with is his surgically repaired knee, which he hurt in the 2019 NBA Finals. Steve Kerr did seem optimistic about the situation and had some encouraging words that should comfort Warriors fans about the setback.

“It's nothing too concerning. It's just part of the cautiousness we're going to show,” Kerr said.

Thompson has appeared in six games this season, and so far it hasn't been exactly the start he has wanted, but he has consistently shared how pleased he is to be back on the court.

This season, Thompson is averaging 14.7 points while shooting 37.2 percent from the field and 30.2 from deep. The three-time champion is still on a minutes restriction, and today showed why he should be held back some.

The Warriors are 33-13 and will face the Utah Jazz who are 30-16, and they will be playing without their star Donovan Mitchell.
