The Cleveland Browns’ acquisition of Deshaun Watson signaled the beginning of the end for Baker Mayfield as the team’s franchise quarterback. However, Mayfield, who has been the subject of trade rumors, remains on the roster. With speculation that Watson could be subject to punishment by the NFL for his legal issues, many have thought that the Browns were reluctant to trade Mayfield in case they wind up empty-handed at the position in 2022.

Despite the fact that criminal charges against the former Pro Bowl quarterback have been dropped, there are still 22 civil suits pending litigation accusing Watson of sexual misconduct.

Many believed Jimmy Garoppolo was going to be traded this offseason by the San Francisco 49ers as they hand the keys to the offense over to Trey Lance. But, to this point, the organization has kept Jimmy G around, which means he and Lance could be battling it out in training camp for the QB1 spot.

The Tampa Bay Lightning stole both games on the road in Florida and will return to Tampa Bay with a comfortable 2-0 lead in the series against the Panthers. Looking to further their advantage in the second-round NHL Playoffs series, the Lightning are hoping to earn a win at home in Game 3. Unfortunately, they are set to be without a key player, yet again. Head coach Jon Cooper revealed, via Eduardo A. Encina, that Brayden Point will be sidelined for Game 3 on Sunday, having yet to make his series debut against the Panthers.

Jadeveon Clowney is still a free agent, but the Cleveland Browns are trying to re-sign him and apparently feel “optimistic” about those prospects, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Fowler notes that a Clowney return to the Browns “makes a lot of sense” for both sides:
